biography
Julia Willoughby is captivated by natural phenomena and materials.
Having studied and worked as an architect and project manager in London and Dorset for some years, she has a continuing fascination with space, light, enclosure and boundaries.
This often leads her into the outdoors (especially woodlands) where she carries out what the artist Tania Kovats calls the ‘vast, uncoordinated, chaotic research programme looking at what we are and how we know what we are.’
Julia's work is usually monochrome, graphic and formal, and she uses drawing, sculpture and photography to produce it.
